ActiFolate is Metagenics proprietary blend of L-5 methyl tetrahydrofolate (L-5-MTHF), 5-formyl tetrahydrofolate (5-formyl THF), and folic acid. This all-inclusive, bioavailable source of folate ...
What is the difference between the two. I have been asked to take Folic acid,The ones from Walmart etc. are useless. The last time I used FolaPro and it does a good job. How is this different from FolaPro.

Hi.
The following is paraphrased from the book, Autism: Effective Biomedical Treatments.
FolaPro is L-5-methyl tetrahydrofolate, while folinic acid is 5-formyltetrahydrofolate. Folinic Acid is the most versatile form of folate because it can already be converted into almost every other form of folate. FolaPro is an end-use form of folate, which can not be converted into any other form of folate. For FolaPro to work, cobalamin, glutathione, methionine synthase, and methionine synthase reductase must be propererly functioning together. If not, neither FolaPro nor FOLIC acid is likely to be beneficial. A better choice in this case would be folinic acid.
So, Actifolate is likely to be more versatile than Folapro because it contains 3 different forms of folate. It is a formula that covers all bases.
