A good use for charcoal
I just thought I would share an important use for charcoal that may be helpful for some kids. Occasionaly I have nights where I am just not sleeping well. In the past I have tried using melatonin, kava, magnesium, l-theanine, valarian, and more to get a good sleep. None of these supplements have worked to bring good quality sleep. I finally tried taking 2 capsules of activated charcoal one night when I was sleeping terribly. This allowed me to have a great sleep. I have repeated the experiment on several occassions, and it has almost always worked. I hypothesize that the reason for the poor sleep on certain nights is that my body is overloaded with toxins and is trying to detoxify while I sleep. The detoxification process is affecting my sleep. The same thing would happen when chelating with DMSA.
The charcoal probably works to help absorb some of the toxins and lessen the burden on the body.
Give it a try when your child has trouble sleeping, and please report back your results.

As a mom, activated charcoal proved to be a life-saver when we were going through yeast die-off while using a prescription yeast-fighter called Diflucan. It really helped resolve the mood swings and discomfort our son had while going through the initial stages of die-off - and it worked very quickly after administration. Many also find it helpful when using other products that can cause die-off reactions due to the release of toxins, such as probiotics that cause bacterial die-off, and chelators which are moving toxins out of the body. This is a good product to keep on hand for die-off situations.

It is interesting that you mentioned how quickly the charcoal worked after taking it. I could swear that in only a matter of a couple minutes after taking the charcoal, I calm down and fall right a sleep. I am always suprised by how fast the charcoal creates change.
