I think that if your children tolerate the epsom salt baths, adding the Zinc Sulfate Cream each day, should not be a problem.

I know that in some cases, large amounts of sulfate can lead to a rapid detox effect, which has the side effect of disturbed sleep. This is probably the only thing to watch out for.

Hi Adam - Nice meeting you at the recent DAN Conference in Cherry Hill. I learned from the conference that my child likely needs more zinc and to give it at bedtime on an empty stomach. Here’s our problem…often times zinc on an empty stomach will make him throw up. Is it okay to use zinc after a meal? Will absorption still take place?
Also, could I opt to use the cream rather than give him the oral supplement? Had the cream ever made anyone sick that you are aware of? Thanks! Melissa Handley

Good meeting you, too!

Zinc with food is probably a good idea if there are issues with stomach upset.

You can use the Our Kids… Zinc Sulfate Cream instead of oral zinc. The dose should be 1/4 teaspoon per day for 6 weeks and then retest levels. Once you see the testing results, the dose can be raised or lowered as needed.

I have not heard of the cream causing any stomach upset.

I’ve been buying supplements from OurKids for my 4-year old son who has been ‘diagnosed’ with pediatric bipolar by many professionals. His pediatrian who is a homeopath started my son on a product called Lithanese, 50mcg/daily, which is working incredibly well. I use the Kensho for the hyper side of it which also works very well and is obviously missed when I’m in between supplies. Does OurKids have a supplementation schedule to recommend for pediatric bipolar. It seems I am left to journey alone on this front. He also has moderate to severe sensory issues and food sensititives. Many thanks, Lisa
