The main active compounds in Ginkgo leaves are the flavoglycosides and terpene lactones. These compounds are the marker compounds which must be present in Ginkgo preparations in order for the product to be effective. Kirkman uses a standardized extract from the leaves of Ginkgo Biloba which has been assayed and is guaranteed to contain 24% flavoglycosides and 6% terpene lactones.
